The International Accreditation Service (IAS) will be conducting a training program based on the IAS AC786 Accreditation Criteria for Approval Program for Fabricators of Container-Based Structures, September 9-10, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. This program was developed in coordination with the National Portable Storage Association (NPSA) and is becoming the standard for companies that modify containers.
The IAS AC786 Accreditation addresses the International Building Codes’ requirement of an “Approved Fabricator” program as stated in IBC Chapter 17, Section 1704.2.5.1. AC786 is specifically developed for fabricators that modify Intermodal Shipping Containers that are repurposed as buildings and building components.
The one- and one-half day training will be presented by J. David Musselwhite, P.E., IAS program manager. The training will cover the key sections of the accreditation requirements and help participants gain a clear understanding of how the AC786 accreditation can be used as a tool to better manage quality of operations. The instruction is intended to explain how quality concepts meld with technical requirements of a management system and how to use this information towards a continuous improvement philosophy within your organization.
The IAS AC786 Accreditation is designed to help companies improve quality, help minimize special inspection requirements in the building code, and help the fabricator become an “Approved Fabricator.”
Who Should Attend?: Owners, Managers, and staff (Quality and Technical personnel) directly and involved in quality and technical operations within the in repurposed container modification industry; Individuals involved in supply-chain inspections and other quality professionals.
