IAS Issues Policy Updates for Testing and Calibration Laboratories
IAS has released the following new policies for accredited calibration laboratory customers
- IAS/TL-CL/026 Policy on Offsite Testing/Calibration
Key Contents/Changes: Clear definition of offsite testing/calibration is included. Requirements are laid out based on ISO/IEC 17025:2017. - IAS/TL-CL/031 IAS Policy on Proficiency Testing for Laboratories
Key Contents/Changes: Revision ensures that document is suitable for both testing and calibration laboratories. Requirements are laid out based on ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Added requirement that PTs for calibration laboratories must be capable of demonstrating a similar level of laboratory capability that is claimed in the laboratory’s Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMC). - IAS/CL/014 IAS Policy Guide on Calibration, Traceability, and Measurement Uncertainty for Calibration Laboratories
Key Contents/Changes: Alignment of requirements with those of ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Clarified traceability requirements and updated section on Z540. - IAS/CL/022 IAS Guide for Representing Scopes of Accreditation for Calibration Laboratories
Key Contents/Changes: The purpose of this document revision is to clarify how IAS presents its accredited scopes of calibration. This is a complete revision of a previously internal only guideline document, which is now intended as a guidance document for laboratories, assessors and IAS staff. It seeks to align IAS scopes with ILAC P14 requirements and SI reference documents such as BIPM’s SI Brochure and NIST Special Publication 811, which deals with the representation of SI units and its recognized symbols as well as imperial units.
