World Accreditation Day is a global initiative established by the IAF and ILAC to promote the value of accreditation. IAS held a virtual Event on June 9th in celebration with attendees from 13 countries around the world. The theme for 2021 was “Accreditation: Supporting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.” Accreditation has an important role in supporting the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to meet objectives such as increasing trade, addressing environment and health and safety concerns, and improving the general overall quality of output in an economy.
Fluke Corporation Chief Corporate Metrologist and IAS Board Member Jeff Gust spoke about the laboratory’s role in sustainable development goals. IQEIS President Peter Unger spoke about how accreditation supports sustainability, quality infrastructure and international trade and the essentials of the UN sustainable development goals. Anil Jauhri, Ex-CEO NABCB, spoke about how accreditation is a tool for public policy. International Accreditation Service (IAS) Vice President Dr. George Anastasopoulos spoke about how IAS supports the implementation of the sustainable development goals. The session concluded with a rigorous Q and A session. Greg West, Director, Customer Success Group, IAS, facilitated the event.
